A beach dune begins with a breeze and just a few grains of sand. As wind sweeps the beach, it collects individual sand grains gathering them up into the wind stream. The sand rides the breeze then, as the grains crash-land on the beach, yet more grains are catapulted into the wind – over and over again, countless number of times. Natural dunes are alive. They migrate and change constantly, growing and altering with the wind.
